Matthew Chapter 4 verses 1-11
verse 1: Then was Jesus led up of the spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.
verse 2: and when he had fasted forty days and forty nights he was afterward and hungered.
verse 3: and when the tempter came to him he said, if thou be the son of God, command that these stones be made bread.
verse 4: But he answered and said, it is written, man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
verse 5: Then the devil taketh him up into the Holy city and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple.
verse 6: and saith unto him if thou be the son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, he shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.
verse 7: Jesus said unto him, It is written again, thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.
verse 8: Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them.
verse 9: and saith unto him, all these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.
verse 10: Then saith Jesus unto him, get the hence, Satan: for it is written thou shalt worship the Lord thy God and him only shalt thou serve.
verse 11: Then the devil leaveth him, and behold angels came and ministered unto hiim
Seekers, let us look at the tempter which is the devil. The devil showed in trying to tempt the Lord that he knows the true word of God. He has to know the scriptures to change the word from one God to trinity (3 God's) to deceive the whole world.
James 2 verse 19: Thou beleivest that there is one God: thou doest well; the devil also believe, and tremble.
The tempter always will come when you are weak. When Jesus had fasted 40 days and 40 nights he was weak and hungered. The devil came to tempt. Whatever your weakness has been, that is what the devil will attack. The truth is worth more than all of the silver and gold in the world. They were not rooted and grounded in the truth of God's word the devil deceived them and they fell away.
Luke 9 verse 62: and Jesus said unto him, no man , having put his hand to the plough, and looking back is fit for the kingdom of God.
The devil knows if he can get you to look back and tempt you with the past. He will deceive you and you will fall.
James 1 verses 12-14
verse 12: Blessed is the man that endureth temptation for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.
verse 13: Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God for God cannot be tempted with evil.
verse 14: but every man is tempted when he is drawn away of his own lust and enticed.
Hebrews 4 verse 15: For we have not a high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities, but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
Revelation 3 verse 10: Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee for the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world to try them that dwell upon the earth.
John 4 verse 4: ye are of God, little children and have overcome them, because greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world.
Seekers, the antichrist the beast is coming. Read Revelation Chapter 13 verses 1-18 about the mark of the beast. Pray that in the hour of temptation that the Lord Jesus Christ will give you power over the tempter. The power is the truth, the holy ghost that is given to the believer to overcome the world.
Jude Chapter 1 verse 25: To the only wise God our savior be glory and majesty, dominion and power both now and ever.
